Spalted birch is a type of birchwood characterized by distinctive dark lines and patterns caused by fungal growth. These markings, often called zone lines, are a result of fungi colonizing and interacting with the wood, creating unique and desirable visual effects for woodworking.
All Wander the Woods materials are sustainably sourced from lumber yard mill ends or wood worker scraps. The wood is cut and sanded thin enough to laser-cut a design specifically selected for each type of wood. Once the design is cut, the earrings are hand sanded before applying a finish. French hook ear wire is made of hypoallergenic niobium accented with copper bead and jump ring.
